Paul Mitchell Party Hair Essentials

Paul Mitchell Party Hair Essentials | Paul Mitchell hair products | hair products | hair | beauty blogger | beauty blog | UK beauty blog | Beauty Blogger | Hair Products That Deliver
So it’s Christmas party season, you’ve got the sparkly frock (or two!!) and I bet you’ve got those nails did too?! Well what about ze hair gurl?! Well for myself personally, I have recently fallen in love with a trio of fantastic styling products by Paul Mitchell - and guess what? They all deliver the results that they promise – so come and meet my trio of Paul Mitchell party hair essentials:

Paul Mitchell Party Hair Essentials | Paul Mitchell hair products | hair products | hair | beauty blogger | beauty blog | UK beauty blog | Beauty Blogger | Hair Products That Deliver

Stay Strong Express Dry Strong Hold Hairspray

I use this strong-hold hairspray to give my hair long-lasting hold, especially when I wear my hair in curls. The formula is extremely light but yet somehow magically manages to offer firm hold whilst still giving the hair movement too - pretty genius right? I also love the fact that the spray dries instantly and is not sticky, plus the smell is pretty lovely too – none of that horrible “toxic/chemically” aroma that you get with other strong-hold hairsprays!

Stay Strong Express Dry Strong Hold Hairspray can also be used to create all-day lift, fullness and texture. For example, if you were using heated rollers then you would simply use this spray to lock in root lift whilst the hair cools. Easy peasy and the result is sexy bouncy curls that last! Isn’t it awful, when you spend ages doing your hair and the style just flops after an hour or so? Well luckily, I now have my personal hair hero to prevent this – Stay Strong Express Dry Strong Hold Hairspray!

This really is the best hairspray ever – I love it! It’s my current go-to hairspray and I use it every time I curl my hair as I have that guarantee that my style is going to stay intact all day. It may seem pricier than your average hairspray but this product is definitely worth it - the whopping big 360ml can is going to last you ages, and the fantastic quality speaks for itself.

Added benefits
The weightless, ultra-dry formula provides maximum control and volume, whilst humidity-resistant ingredients help fight frizz and flyaways – needless to say that this hairspray is going to be an absolute godsend on rainy-windy weather days!

…it’s just an all-round brilliant hairspray – trust me, you need it in your life!

Twirl Around

I have a natural wave/curl to my hair so tend to wear my hair curly quite frequently, and thus Twirl Around is essentially the ideal hair product for me. It helps curls retain their shape, as well as keeping your curls nice and bouncy all day long.

The dual formula (a combination of hydrating cream and smoothing gel) defines, separates, and tames unruly curls and waves without frizz or crunchiness. The consistency is creamy but once applied it actually feels light on the hair – provided that you don’t apply too much product as you only to need use a small amount to get good results.

Paul Mitchell Twirl Around Review | Paul Mitchell Twirl Around | Paul Mitchell | Paul Mitchell hair products | hair products | hair curl cream | enhance curls | products for curly hair | beauty blogger | beauty blog | UK beauty blog | Beauty BloggerI love the design of the bottle with the product swirls!

I normally apply this product straight after washing and conditioning my hair and then simply allow my hair to air dry naturally. The result: Gorgeous defined bouncy curls! Note: Since I have a slight natural curl to my hair I can simply work this product into my hair and let it do it’s thang, but you can of course 'scrunch' it into your hair to add definition and encourage volume if you wish to do so.

This product will not make the hair greasy or feel sticky, nor will it cause build-up or make your hair feel hard or crunchy. It smells great too! It is superb at adding definition and gives me the bounciest silkiest curls ever – which last all day! This is a fantastic product for enhancing curls - I highly recommend it!

Added benefits
- Smoothing, conditioning, softening conditioners keep curls looking their best.
- Crunch-free fixative leaves curls soft and touchable.

This product allows me to wear my hair in curls without having to subject my hair to heated appliances or a load of different products – this one product truly is all I need to keep my curls in check! …Actually my mission/hair resolution for 2015 is to use less heat on my hair so this product is just perfect for me really!

Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray

This shine spray is from Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Wild Ginger brand, a line of luxury haircare products formulated to help restore dry, damaged hair. It gives the hair a reflective shine with a natural finish. This product is a real blessing for my slightly frazzled [because I keep changing my hair colour too often!!] colour-treated hair as it makes my hair look and feel really silky!

The spray has a light ginger scent which smells really pleasant (unless you hate the scent ginger of course), and it does not make your hair feel greasy or sticky in the slightest. It emits a fine, lightweight mist so you need not worry about it weighing your hair down either. You only actually need to use a small amount of product so I would expect the can to last you quite a while.

This is a real nifty little finishing product which can also be used to freshen up your hair in-between washes so that you have fabulous hair all the time - yay!

Added benefits
- Silicone-free.
- Leaves hair soft and silky smooth.
- Helps protect hair from daily wear and tear making it ideal for heat styling.
- Natural Awapuhi extract balances moisture and intensifies shine for a healthy-looking finish.

I love the sleek high-end looking packaging!

If you want shiny soft hair this part season then you need this spray in your life! Priced at £18.95, it might seem pricey but this gem of a product does everything that it says on the can, and trust me, it perks up dull hair a real treat! I also like the fact that it contains conditioning agents to protect and care for the hair – yup it’s another winning product from Paul Mitchell!

Right so those were my Paul Mitchell party hair essentials which will be helping my hair look amazing not only for the current Christmas party season, but right through to the new year. After using these products religiously for a whole month, all I can say is that I love this trio dearly! Sometimes it’s difficult to find hair products that actually deliver what they say, and I have to admit that before trailing these Paul Mitchell party hair essentials I was almost beginning to feel slightly disillusioned with styling products – so thank you Paul Mitchell for restoring my faith in hair products!

…Ohh I nearly forgot to mention: All three of the above products are paraben-free, colour-safe and vegan – making then even more awesome!!

Have you tried any of these products too?

London Christmas Window Displays | 2014

Hi guys, I hope that you are all having a great weekend! With Christmas drawing closer and closer, I'm in full-on festive mood lately so thought that today I'd share some pictures of lovely London Christmas window displays with you. I took all of these pictures on my recent strolls through London so hope that you enjoy them!
Harrods

First up we have Harrods - look how beautiful it looks all lit-up at night!

This year the Harrods Christmas window displays are centred around the theme of The Land Of Make Believe, "a fantasy winter tale where magical mice arrive at Harrods to help Father Christmas transform the store ready for the festive season." In keeping with the theme lots of little uniformed mice (as pictured below) are dotted throughout the various window displays:

The window displays also feature oversized traditional toys such as this spinning top and teddy bear:

The Harrods window displays are a winter wonderland full of silver birch trees and ice-blue skies - so let's take a closer look at some of the windows:

Jo Malone window clock:

I'm not joking but after I finished taking these pictures I had a sudden urge to go and buy lots of Jo Malone Christmas gifts - it was like I was hypnotised!! I think it's the chic and minimalistic Jo Malone packaging - it always lures me in!

Pirouetting ballerina in a musical box
I think that this was my favourite window of all. The rotating ballerina wears a bespoke Swarovski crystal embellished silk, tulle and feather dress by designer Zuhair Murad, inside a musical box created by furniture designer Amy Somerville.

I was utterly captivated as I watched the ballerina rotate round and round:

A marionette in McQueen...

...that's one lucky marionette - she wears a dress by Alexander McQueen:

How cute is this mouse with his little sleigh full of Chloé perfume:

Selfridges:

For Christmas 2014, Selfridges are celebrating the art of storytelling and the power of enchantment. Each of their windows "evokes a surreal fairytale or children’s storybook classic, each with a unique Selfridges twist, of course."

I only had time to take a few pictures on this occasion as I was literally just quickly walking past. I was actually off to a press event so already had my camera out and all ready for action lol. I swear passers-by were staring at me like I was some sort of paparazzi or something! It actually brought back memories of London Fashion Week SS15 (especially Day 1 - it was mad!!) where I was running around London to the various shows with my camera dangling around my neck. ...Hectic but fun times, I look forward to doing it all again soon.

Apologies, I digress - here's a few quick pictures of the Selfridges Christmas window displays:

Isn't this modern take on Rapunzel great? The mannequins are dressed in Rodarte Star Wars print dresses and have pink dip-dyed hair - very contemporary!

Paddington Bear!

London is so magical at Christmas time isn't it?! I hope that you enjoyed these festive pictures! I had lots of fun taking them and at one point I actually felt a bit like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's - except instead of having a coffee and a Danish in my hand I had my DSLR lol!

Have a great weekend guys :)

I like the shiny shiny bling bling!!

Christmas day is only 18 days away and my world has fast become a lavish affair of gold, sparkles and glitter. I see lots of Christmas sparkle wherever I go, especially when I'm out shopping - there are some fantastic looking store windows out there, especially in London. (Spoiler alert: I actually have an upcoming post featuring some of London's finest Christmas window displays so look out for it!)

Seeing all this gold, glitz and sparkle on a daily basis must have rubbed off on me as lately I'm obsessed with all such-like things and have found myself turning to a spot of online browsing in order to feed my love of the shiny shiny. Here's a small selection of fancies that have been satisfying the magpie in me:

(...this is kind of like a luxury bling wishlist lol...and who knows, if you're looking for some lavish Christmas gift ideas then perhaps some of the below will tickle your fancy!)

The epic gold backpack:

...Epic innit?!

You gotta love a sparkly handbag and gold shoes!!

...Ooh sparkly Christmas party wear!

...I love the sparkly gold playsuit - it would be ideal for Christmas party wear!
...and the dress on the right is such a thing of beauty isn't it?!

The bling trainers:

...totally loving the diamond encrusted bling hardware on these Giuseppe Zanotti hi-tops - plus they're made of velvet, how dandy is that?! (I like the bits of shiny patent too - and we all know how much I love the shiny shiny!!)

Bling up your talons!

Festive nail bling is essential for the Christmas party season and I'm really loving the look of this Nails Inc set:

Festive bling home decor and a gold Prosecco bottle...

....you can even glam up your house with this bling deer ornament!

...we also have a gold Prosecco bottle - this would make a fancy gift don't you think? Now the golden bottle isn't just all for show you know, it actually protects the wine from light thus preserving its aroma and freshness, as well as giving the wine a longer life. Clever nuh?

A very glamorous timepiece...

...eek just look at all those diamonds and pearls! this is such an exquisite dress watch!

Patek Philippe manufacture and assemble the finest timepieces in the world so it's no wonder really that their watches are owned by royalty and world-known leaders. (I'd certainly feel like a princess wearing a watch like this!) You can browse more of their exquisite watches here.

...so that was quite fun! ...I hope that you enjoyed paying homage to all things gold and sparkly with me!

....By the way: Gosh, Christmas is now only 18 days away!! I'm just looking forward to big day itself now - you know, having a big dinner with the whole family (such precious moments aren't they?!), lounging around the house eating indulgent Xmas food and watching Christmas movies...that sort of thing!

...Of course the current lead-up to Christmas is amazing too and I'm aiming to do and see as many festive things as possible - some of which I expect I'll be sharing with you here on the blog :)

Do you love all things glitzy and christmassy too? What did you think of the above pretties??!
Do you have an inner magpie too???!

Have a great weekend,
Aimee xx

Winter Skin Saviour - Cosmetics à la Carte Rose Elixir

If the biting cold and blustery wind are taking their toll on your skin, then Cosmetics à la Carte's Rose Elixir might be of particular interest to you:

Winter Skin Saviour - Cosmetics à la Carte Rose Elixir Beauty Blog Beauty Blogger www.thebellenarrative.com www.thebellenarrative.com.jpg
Rose Elixir (£35, 15ml)

For the past few weeks I have been using this luxurious blend of rosehip and pure Rosa Damascena flower oil to soothe and hydrate my winter parched skin. Cold, wintry weather can really play havoc with my skin often leaving it feeling tight and dry, but luckily this marvellous oil soothes, calms, and nourishes my skin like none other.

I apply the oil by gently massaging 1-2 drops into clean, damp skin. I use the oil as a night-time moisturiser so apply it right after my evening cleanse. The oil is a very lightweight formula so absorbs into the skin instantly without leaving a greasy residue behind like some oils can. Now given the fact that the product is so light, it it allows my skin to breathe and rejuvenate whilst I sleep. The next morning I wake up with soft, hydrated, glowing skin! I seriously love this oil, it's a current skincare favourite of mine at the moment.

Other points of note:
• Formulated with aromatherapy strength pure Rosa Damascena flower oil
• Contains a revitalising & hydrating blend of natural Jojoba and Grape Seed Oil
• Vitamin E acts as a free radical scavenger
• Suits all skin types
• Preservative Free

Winter Skin Saviour - Cosmetics à la Carte Rose Elixir Beauty Blog Beauty Blogger www.thebellenarrative.com www.thebellenarrative.com.jpg
In Summary:
The Rose Elixir is an absolute Autumn/Winter skincare essential! The colder weather can leave my skin dull and dehydrated but the Rose Elixir perks up my skin a treat. It fights dullness and makes my skin glow, whilst doing an excellent job of hydrating and boosting my skin's moisture levels. The light silky texture is simply gorgeous and works just perfectly on my combination skin type.

…oh and did I mention that the natural rose fragrance is pretty heavenly too?

Have you tried Cosmetics à la Carte's Rose Elixir? It's an absolute must-have for the cold-weather months!

House of Fraser SS15 Press Preview

When time allows, I really enjoy attending press days because I love getting an advance preview of what’s to come from my favourite brands and labels. So of course when I recently attended the House of Fraser SS15 press day I was naturally in my element. I took lots of pictures so check it out, get ready to get excited as the SS15 collections are amazing!!

Biba SS15

Biba's gold leather jacket – had all of us gals swooning all over it – it’s so fab-u-lous!! What's more, the arms of the jacket detach to transform it into a gilet!

The Biba gold leather jacket is part of their SS15 Biba Gold capsule collection and it hits the stores in March so note it down in those diaries girls!

There were several stylishly attired mannequins dotted around the showroom:

Yup, it's that amazing gold jacket by Biba again! The pink clutch bag is a bit too swoon-worthy too!

Linea

Opulent evening dresses with beautiful embellishment:

These paint splash jeans by Polo Ralph Lauren are so cooool:

Bags

There was a fantastic selection of SS15 bags on offer for us to view from brands such as Michael Kors, Radley, Furla and much more. For SS15 it's all about the brights and pastels...

Furla particularly have some really great bright colour pop styles:

...or if on the other hand you like your pastels then you'll love this lovely Radley number:

Menswear

There was also a small menswear section so I quickly popped in to have a look. Here's a quick pic for you:

Homeware

Lastly I had a quick look at the home. It was lots of fun and I picked up a few home decor ideas.

...Naturally as someone who loves things from the past, I absolutely adored all the vintage-inspired styles:

I love this picnic basket for summer!

...and that concludes me little summary of the House of Fraser's SS15 Press Preview. I had a really enjoyable time looking at all the upcoming fashion and homeware. There were statement bags galore so you know that snazzy handbags and standout clutches are going to by key this spring/summer.

I hope you enjoyed viewing the above pictures and now have some inspiration for what to put on your summer shopping lists!

What did you think of House of Fraser's SS15 collections?! Do you have your eye on any of the above?
