Kiko Cosmetics Generation Next Collection

Kiko is fast-becoming one of my favourite makeup brands and whenever I visit one of their stores I'm literally like a kid in a candy store! With a seemingly endless array of different colours and formulations - it's pure makeup heaven really!! If you're unfamiliar with Kiko then the best way that I can describe the brand is by saying that it's a bit like going to MAC, except more purse-friendly!

Some of you will know that Kiko bring out four fashion collections each year, and for Spring 2015 Kiko launched the Generation Next collection. The collection celebrates the future by featuring luminous layers of colour with innovative formulas and textures. I was really excited about trying out a few bits from the collection for myself, although the hard part was deciding on which products to try as it's such a fantastic collection! After a bit of deliberating, here's what I chose:

CC Cream Cushion (£15.90) | Link

Description: Lightweight colour-perfecting foundation with SPF 25 for a radiant complexion and even-looking skin. The fluid texture is easily absorbed and blends with the skin to conceal discolourations and imperfections. The UVB sunscreens help protect the epidermis.

Cushion foundations have existed in the Korean beauty market for a few years now and I’m really glad that this technology has finally been brought to our UK shores...and yes this foundation is very comparable (well, almost identical!) to the LancĂ´me Miracle Cushion Foundation.

The shiny luxe looking compact contains a mirror along with an applicator puff for application.
The puff applies the product evenly for a smooth even finish.

Inside the compact you have a sponge - i.e 'cushion' soaked in foundation. To apply the foundation you simply press the applicator puff into the liquid cushion, then gently pat the product onto your face. It really is as simple as that, making this form of foundation perfect for those new to makeup/applying foundation - yes fret not my dears, with a cushion foundation you need not worry about blending or faffing around with makeup brushes.

The foundation has quite a fluid watery texture but when applied it provides buildable medium to full coverage. It feels very light and comfortable on the skin and evened out my skin tone nicely leaving me with an overall flawless natural looking finish - yup I love it!! So far I'm currently really loving this foundation and the handy compact is perfect for top-ups on-the-go. Note: Combination skin types like mine will probably benefit from using this type of foundation with a primer and setting powder.

The CC Cream Cushion is available in six different shades - I have the shade Neutral 90 which is a tad dark for me but should be workable for when I'm tanned:

Mosaic Highlighter (£14.90) | Link

Description: Multi-colour illuminating powder enriched with light-reflecting pearls for naturally glowing skin. The product's five different shades help you create a flawless complexion.

I absolutely adore this product!! ...and yes it is a Guerlain Meteorites dupe - yup another high-end makeup dupe for us makeup lovers to swoon over!

Isn't this the prettiest product ever??!! I was afraid of the pretty pattern spoiling/fading with use, but to my absolute delight it still looks fine after several uses!

This is a really excellent quality powder highlighter that imparts a subtle, pretty shimmer. The gorgeous silky soft texture blends and applies beautifully, and let me just tell you how fine and delicate the resulting shimmer is! It is not the slightest bit coarse or gritty, and I would go as far to say that the quality is comparable to my high-end products, especially my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade. ...Except that I like the Kiko Mosaic Highlighter better as the gold-toned shimmer suits my skin tone better than Lightscapade.

The Kiko Mosaic Highlighter comes in one shade - '01 Future Light' which should suit all skin tones. As you can see from the swatch below the shade is a lovely gold-toned shimmer:

I adore this product to bits - it's an absolute must-have ladies!!

Generation Next Face Brush (£15.90) | Link

Description: Face brush, ideal for applying powdered products, such as bronzers, blushes, highlighters and face powders. The soft and compact synthetic bristles ensure that the product is applied evenly.

When I saw how pretty this brush was I just had to have it! I really love the pretty pink bristles and colourful purple handle!

This is a great quality makeup brush, the bristles are very soft and it picks up and applies product beautifully, and so far I can't fault it one bit. I haven't noticed any shedding yet either so I'm seriously thinking about getting another one of these brushes!

My overall thoughts

The Generation Next collection’s luxe shiny silver packaging has captured my heart so it’s a shame that it is limited edition, but I guess that means that I'll just have to stock up on my favourites! I have a spring and summer full of events (engagement parties and weddings - I'm actually a bridesmaid!) so I think that I chose the right products for the job. The amazing CC Cream Cushion foundation and highlighter will definitely help me look all gorgeous and radiant - and of course I have the pretty pink bristled brush for applying the highlighter. Overall a great set of products and I'll definitely keep on exploring Kiko's limited edition collections in future.

The Kiko Generation Next collection is available from Kiko Stores nationwide and online at www.kikocosmetics.co.uk.

I did also pick up the Face blush brush which is part of Kiko's permanent collection, but I wanted to keep this post based on the Generation Next collection so I'll review that in a later post for you.

What do you think of Kiko's spring collection? Are you a Kiko fan too?!
